Solar repair and service in El Cajon
Solar runs quietly for years, so most problems go unnoticed until the SDG&E bill jumps. We troubleshoot and repair home and business systems across East County, including systems another company installed.
Licensed C-10 Electrical and C-46 Solar, CSLB #1107535. Call or text, same number.
Signs your system needs a look
- The inverter shows a red or orange light, or an error code
- Your monitoring app stopped updating or shows zero
- Production is down compared with last year
- Your SDG&E bill went up and nothing else changed
- The company that installed it closed or stopped calling back
- You’re replacing the roof, or buying or selling a house with solar
Is your system underperforming?
Put in what it made last month. If it’s low, send us the result and we’ll know where to start.
What we do
Troubleshooting and repairs
Tripped breakers and disconnects, failed connectors, damaged wiring and ground faults.
Inverter replacement
String inverters and microinverters. If the old model is discontinued, we match a replacement to your panels.
Monitoring
Getting a dead app or gateway back online so you can see what the system is doing.
Panel washing
Dust and bird droppings cut output, especially through a long dry East County summer.
Adding panels
Expanding an existing system. Adding capacity can affect your SDG&E net metering plan, so we check that before we quote.
Remove and reinstall for a new roof
Panels come off, the roofer does the roof, panels go back on and get tested.
Inspections and appraisals
A full check for a home sale or purchase, or just to know where things stand.
Ongoing maintenance
Scheduled checks for homes and businesses that want problems caught early.
Why output drops
The inverter
It’s the part most likely to fail. Many string inverters came with a 10 or 12 year warranty, and plenty of systems in East County are now past it.
New shade
Trees grow, and neighbors add second stories. A little shade on one panel can pull down a whole string.
Dirt
Long stretches without rain leave a film of dust that adds up month after month.
A switch someone flipped
Sometimes the system was shut off during other work and never turned back on.
The monitoring, not the panels
A new router or Wi-Fi password is enough to make the app go blank while the system keeps producing.
Installer out of business?
Panel and inverter manufacturer warranties usually still apply. You need a licensed solar contractor to diagnose the fault and do the swap. Omar holds the C-46 solar license, so we can be that contractor.
Questions about solar repair and service
Do you work on systems you didn’t install?
Yes. Diagnosis and repair don’t depend on who installed the system or which brand it is.
How long do solar inverters last?
String inverters commonly last 10 to 15 years, and microinverters are generally rated longer. If yours is in that window and acting up, it’s worth comparing a repair with a replacement.
Should I clean my solar panels?
Light dust costs a little; caked dust and droppings cost more. Winter rain does some of the cleaning, but after a long dry stretch a wash can bring output back. Don’t pressure-wash or walk on the panels.
What happens to my solar when I replace my roof?
The panels have to come off. We disconnect and remove the array, the roofer does the roof, then we reinstall, reconnect and test. Book us when you book the roofer.
