Three quick checks before you call
Is it just you?
If the neighbors are dark too, it’s an outage. Check SDG&E’s outage map or call 1-800-411-7343.
Reset the GFCIs
A tripped GFCI outlet in a bathroom, garage, kitchen or outside can cut power to several other outlets. Press reset.
Don’t keep resetting
A breaker that trips again right away is protecting you from a fault. Leave it off and call.
Fast when it counts
“Late on a Friday afternoon, I asked if they could come and check out an outlet for safety reasons. With no hesitation, they came out within the hour and switched out the necessary parts.”
Jennifer R., Outlet check, same hour. Thumbtack, Dec 2023 “I even texted him that we were having issues with power on one of our wall outlets. He made time on a Saturday morning to come get it checked out and fixed it.”
Stephany M., Outlet repair. Thumbtack, Dec 2023
Questions about emergency service
Do you take emergency calls?
Yes. Call or text (619) 748-7160 with what’s happening. A photo of the panel or outlet helps us judge how urgent it is.
Should I call SDG&E or an electrician?
SDG&E for an outage, a downed line, or a problem at the meter or on the pole. An electrician for anything in your home’s wiring, panel or outlets. Not sure? Call us and we’ll tell you which.
Why does my breaker keep tripping?
An overloaded circuit, a short, a ground fault, or a worn-out breaker. If it trips the moment you reset it, leave it off and call.
