Solar panel installation in El Cajon
El Cajon gets more sun and hotter summers than the coast, which means big AC bills and a strong case for solar. We design and install PV systems for homes and businesses, and because we’re electricians too, the panel and wiring side stays in-house.
Licensed C-10 Electrical and C-46 Solar, CSLB #1107535. Call or text, same number.
Good times to go solar
- Your SDG&E bills spike every summer
- You’re adding an EV, a heat pump or an ADU and usage is going up
- Your roof is new or in good shape, or you’re reroofing first
- You have an older, undersized system and want more
- Your business uses most of its power during the day
- You want a design and plan set before choosing who builds it
Sized to what you use
Under California’s Net Billing Tariff, which has applied to new SDG&E solar customers since April 2023, power you send back to the grid earns far less than power you use yourself.
That changes how a system should be sized. The goal is to cover what your home uses, when it uses it, not to export as much as possible. So we start with twelve months of your SDG&E usage and what’s about to change: an EV, a heat pump, a pool.
Panel and solar, planned together
Many older panels can’t take a large solar system without changes (see the 120% rule). With both the C-10 electrical and C-46 solar license, we plan the panel, the interconnection and the array as one job.
Just need the design?
We prepare new system designs and solar plan sets, and consult on systems others will build.
Already have panels?
Adding to an existing system is its own job, because it can affect your SDG&E plan. See solar repair and service.
How a solar install goes
The work on the roof takes days. Permits and SDG&E approval take most of the calendar, and you get that timeline with the quote.
Usage review
Twelve months of SDG&E data, plus what’s changing.
Site visit
Roof condition, shade, orientation and your electrical panel.
Design and plan set
Panel layout, inverter, wiring and the connection point.
Permits and SDG&E
Building permit with your city or the County, and the interconnection application.
Install
Racking, panels, inverter, wiring and any panel work.
Inspection and PTO
After inspection, SDG&E grants permission to operate and the system goes on.
Questions about new solar systems
Is solar still worth it in El Cajon?
For many homes it is, mainly because daytime use is high (air conditioning) and SDG&E rates are high. It depends on your usage, your roof and how much you use while the sun is up, so we run the numbers on your actual SDG&E data.
How long does it take?
The install itself is a matter of days. Permits and SDG&E approval take longer, and you get the full timeline with the quote.
Do you do commercial and industrial solar?
Yes, for businesses and industrial buildings as well as homes.
Can you just design the system?
Yes. We prepare system designs and solar plan sets, and consult on projects.
